South Park once again hits home on the essence of a popular flawed way of thinking, this time with the great underpants gnomes: "Phase one - collect underpants, phase two - ? (silence), phase three - Profit!"

That pretty much captures my life plans. Act in the present, have long-term hopes, but have no plan to connect phase one to phase three.
